You can choose from several different power outputs they all get the Edge up to motorway speeds smartly enough and cruise at 70mph happily, but the more powerful ones feel more relaxed. It’s only available with a diesel engine, which works away quietly enough in the background. On the road, the Edge feels surprisingly agile for a car of its size. Fold the back seats down and the space nearly doubles – useful when you need to buy a new fridge. There’s no real need to pack light for a family holiday, either. It’s 602-litre capacity will swallow whatever pushchairs, dogs or monthly food shopping you want to throw in there. There’s easily enough room for five relatively tall adults to sit comfortably for a few hours, so a typical family of four is unlikely to find space at all lacking. The Edge is intended as a family car first and foremost, so let’s start by considering the interior space.
